Collection: Palari
On the hills overlooking the Strait of Messina, a great DOC wine has been produced since the beginning of time: il FARO. Its cultivation and trade led to a prosperous economy that continued to thrive for centuries until the beginning of the 20th century when, due the phylloxera disease, this DOC risked to be extinguished.
In an antique 18th century Villa, Azienda Agricola Palari has resumed the production of this ancient and noble wine with the objective of reviving (assisted by the help of modern technology) the quality that has made “il FARO” famous throughout the world. In the district of Palari S. Stefano Briga, Messina, the old vineyards of head trained vines are planted with native varietals as ancient as the fascinating names they evoke: Nerello Mascalese, Nocera, Cappuccio, Core ’e palumba, Acitana, Galatena, Calabrese and Jacché and others.
Looking South, South-Est, stone terraces host the grapevines and allow water drainage due to a significant steep slope. This settings also require the grapes to be harvested by hand.
Azienda Agricola Palari has been awarded several times with the greatest awards of different Wine guides.
